Christmas trip including 85 year olds to CR?

We're a multigenerational family ages 12-86 (14 in all) looking to take a special Christmas trip, possibly to CR though we are open to other similar destinations. Three healthy elderly, eight adults, two teens, one pre-teen. Looking for pretty upscale, though not lavish. Availability of sports is important, eco-friendly is a plus. The elderly members have some mobility issues, but can certainly walk fine. But they couldn't hike into a jungle lodge. Beauty and comfort are more important than night life or shopping. Any thoughts? Thank you!

My thoughts are to involve all members of this party in the research and planning. There is time between now and Christmas. Read the past topics on this board. Buy a few copies of a travel book or books. Make sure everyone buys into the plan. Thinks about staying at one or two major centers (like Arenal and Manuel Antonio) and let individuals or groups do the activites they choose. If you do all the planning then you get all the blame for whatever goes wrong. If you let us do all the planning, you still get all the blame for whatever goes wrong. Get a general plan and then return here for the details.

good advice, thanks. I may have to feed them a lot of the info but you're right that input is key.
