Christmas in Cabo
Need a warm getaway for a family with college age kids. Haven't heard much about Mexican safety issues lately. Is this a good option? If not..suggestions! Thanks!

Cabo San Lucas is great! There are not now (and never has been) any "safety issues". It's way down at the tip of the Baja peninsula away from any border issues... and GORGEOUS by the way.
It's a desert environment and the ocean is rough (not swimmable most places) but it is dramatic scenery and plenty to do in the way of other activities. One thing to understand about Los Cabos area is that it is comprised of two towns (San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas) with a stretch of resorts ("the Corridor") in bewteen. I think it's a fine option, but will also suggest my other favorite place which is absolutely lovely over Christmas with usually perfect weather... Puerto Vallarta. Your kids might prefer PV, I'm thinking. There are very active forums on both places over at Trip Advisor if you'd like to read up more about them. Lots of threads about each & even opinions/comparing the two places in past threads. buena suerte, suze |
Your college age kids would love CSL. Stay on the main beach area of Playa Medano. This beach is swimmable and has plenty of water sport options.
I don't know if this would be a problem, but drinking age is 18 and Cabo is also know as party central after dark. Just use common sense. We are going to Cabo for Easter. Can't wait. MY |
Cabo is an amazing option for college aged kids as Michelle said. El Squid Roe and the Zoo is where all of the college kids hang out at night. It is really a beautiful and fun place for adults and kids...

Oh, if you've been to Cabo before, then it's the same as always! It's not been a part of any of the safety concerns in any way.
