Chapala - a charming town
 

Would like to share my new discovery...<BR>Just returned back from the unspoiled Mexican village of Chapala, a lovely, small, lake town just south of Guadalahara. Stayed in a beautiful B&B villa, "QQ", owned and operated by a delightful couple, Dick and Barbi Henderson. "QQ" is where D.H. Lawrence lived while writing "The Plumed Serpent". B&B has beautiful gardens, fountains, pool and jacuzzi. Town and B&B are very relaxing and a short 30 minutes away from power shopping in Guadalahara. Can't wait to return. E-mail: [email protected]

Chapala?<BR>Unspoiled?<BR>That place has beeen overrun with Gringo millionaires for decades now!<BR>Lake Chapala is seriously polluted, you can't even walk the shoreline without exposing yourself to noxious substances!<BR>And the crime rate is skyrocketing beginning with the murders of a number of Gringo Homosexual Pedophiles-an organised 'ring' of perverts- who were 'taken down' by elements of the Mexican Army who were sick of seeing litte beggar boys being sexually assaulted by rich Gringo Perverts who could buy their way out of any legal problems.<BR>Yes Chapala looks lovely and has a wonderful climate but there's a snake, or rather a huge number of snakes, in that Garden.<BR>Too bad your friends bought into such a Snakepit but that doesn't mean you should use this board to try to Spam their operation.

Sounds like sour grapes to me! I too have discovered the charm of Chapala and can't imagine an American visitor not enjoying all it has to offer. Yes many Americans and Canadians have made it their second home just as they have in San Miguel de Allende and for good reason. I will be returning again this winter and look forward to another terrific holiday.

The troubles in Chapal have been debated ad nauseum on different boards in CyberSpace-now they have landed here-in the form of Spam, and a dubious reply, and another dubious reply.<BR>Chapala has it's problems Yes-deep and troubling.<BR>Real Estate values are plumetting and some operators are desperate.<BR>Crime is rising and people-many of whom have lived there for years and still speak no Spanish-have no idea what to do.<BR>My advice is for readers here to take anything they here with a very large grain of salt-Chapala is no undiscovered paradiso.<BR>

Been there several times...Won't go back !! It's a garbage heap now.
