Cell phone reception in Sacred Valley?
We are heading off to Cusco, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu and am wondering what type of cellular reception we should expect there. We use AT&T cellular service. We'd like to bring our phone for emergencies but, if they won't even work in the Sacred Valley, we won't bother . . . thanks everyone:)

I didn't have a problem and our guide and driver used theirs extensively.

I can't address whether AT&T, specifically, works in the Sacred Valley but cell phones definitely do. Our guide used his on a regular basis. Most countries in the world use GSM service, which is different from the US standard. If you don't get a definitive answer on AT&T and don't want to chance it, you can easily rent a cell phone at the airport in Lima. Lots of people are there offering them for rent.

AT&T uses GSM network which will work in Peru. I was in Cuzco and Sacred Valley last year, and had no issues.

Thanks everyone. That answers my question:). One last thing -- we are going in June and will be hiking a lot but not "doing" the Inca Trail. We are packing carry-on bags only so are sticking to the basics but is there anything you wish you had packed but did not? Should we bring rain gear for June or do you think the chances of rain then are slim? Thanks again.
