Casa Magna Marriott Beach - Too Rough?
Just a question about the beeach at the Casa Magna Marriott. Is it rough, swimmable, etc. We are considering it for Xmas vacation with our 3 kids (8, 5, and 2 yrs.).
Thank you!!! Also - any advice on what rooms since the web site has little/no pics. |
it just depends on the time of year whether the ocean will be rough or calm. I've been twice; once calm as a lake, the other too rough for me to swim (an average swimmer).
check out tripadvisor.com for more info. on rooms. I think a room w/ an ocean view is definitely worth the extra $$. |
IF the kids want to be in the ocean the MCM beach surf is probably too much for them in December. Especially at their ages. Waves a minimum of three feet and sometimes bigger. Usually a strong to moderate undertow also. If that is an issue stay at one of the North facing hotels like Plesendte, FA grand Coral or the RIUs. Much calmer.

Are we talking about Puerto Vallarta?
I'm curious because the description of the poster directly above doesn't sound like PV. |
dougout is talking about the hotel zone properties on the north side of Cancun which face the Gulf of Mexico. Cancun is shaped like the number 7 with the top part the Gulf and the side part, the Caribbean. Beaches on the north (top of 7) side of Cancun have decidedly less surf, but are not as attractive as those on the Caribbean IMO.

thanks Dee, I guessed that after I posted mine when I saw another post about Casa Magna Marriott CANCUN.

We're also thinking of the CasaMagna Cancun next year (yes, planning very far ahead). We're thinking either Feb 07 or April 07. Two families with 5 kids total between 1-6.
Do you know time of year the beaches are calmer? I'm guessing they'll be at the pool most of the time but it would be nice to have it as an option. I did check with the hotel and it sounds like they are putting a childrens pool in as part of the renovation. Thanks in advance! |
