Casa Las Brisas - Punta Mita
 

My husband and I are thinking about booking 5-6 nights at Casa Las Brisas in Punta Mita. The hotel sounds amazing, and the price is really reasonable. We did visit Puerto Vallarta about 7 yrs ago and we were thinking about spending 2 nights there at the start of the trip to take advantage of the restaurants/nightlife b/c we know that our time at Las Brisas will be very very quiet. Does anyone have any suggestions for a small intimate hotel for 2 nights in PV? We want to be able to walk to the restaurants.

Casa Isabel looks very nice in PV too. Haven't stayed there but have thought about it. Villa Premiere is also very popular. But hopefully, Suze will be along to help more!

I can only answer for Premiere--we stayed there last year and loved it! Most rooms have jacuzzis on their decks and the larger end rooms(Jr Suites?)have nice tiled huge hottubs on a very nice terrace. The food was good and employees personable and accomadating. All rooms have ocean view and I think there are just 80 or so rooms. Might be larger than you are seeking, but it worked for us! Also, right next door to Hector's--fun place! We walked to town everyday and most evenings.

I stayed at Casa Las Brisas for 5 nights in 2004 and it was a fantastic experience. A small hotel, you will get to know the owner Marc and the folks who work there, along with the other guests. However, there is plenty of space to do your own thing. The service is incredible. It's all inclusive but the food is so good that guests from the nearby Four Seasons can be seen dining there nightly. Breakfast and lunch is closed to guests. The liquor and wines are all top-shelf and flow freely. The rooms are all exquisite with great ocean views, open-air showers and lots of privacy. We did not leave the hotel once in 5 days, though most of the other guests we met left for various excursions. We were just too relaxed to leave the beautiful pool, ocean views, glorious walks on the beach. I sum, I can't say enough about this hotel and find it schocking that more people aren't aware of its existence. There was a great article in the NY Times travel section in 2003 by Florence Fabricant that led us to Casa Las Brisas--see if you can find it because it's a near-perfect description of the place. You are correct that Casa Las Brisas is very quiet, and not for those looking for a non-stop party or adventure. We also went to PV for two nights after our time at Casa Las Brisas. We had fun and found PV charming but be prepared that you'll be let down by any hotel in PV after the pampering of Casa Las Brisas.

You might look at either Casa Andrea or Los Cuatro Vientos?

I swam in the ocean everyday--the waves were big, pretty typical for what I have experienced on other parts of the Pacific coast of Mexico. If you are comfortable with strong surf, you'll be fine and will enjoy the beach. The hotel has boogie boards to use.

I know nothing ever stays the same but what the developers did to Punta Mita is a crime. It for years was a closely guarded secret known only to locals & a few regular visitors. A lovely unspoiled beach with a few palapas & a little Indian village. Thanks to Jack Nicolas & his @^%$#$ greedy compulsion to cover the earth with golf courses the Indians have been forced out of their palapas & moved into concrete monstrosities & that formally natural beach now is like a 1,000 other over developed ones. So Sad!
