Carnaval in Playa del Carmen

Are there any festivals or parades in PDC for Carnaval? My wife and I will be at the Rui Palace from 2/30 till 3/3/2004. IF not in PDC where would nearest Carnaval fun be located?

I'm not sure about PDC, but Cozumel has a wonderful carnival. They have several parades over the carnival period.

The other place that really goes all out for carnival is Merida, but that would be too far for you. Cozumel would an easy day trip.

Sorry to bother, but are parades during day or night or both times? If at night, can you still catch the ferry back to PDC?

thanks

Good question. I've just seen them at night, but I've been staying on Cozumel so I didn't need to worry about taking the ferry back. I'm not sure what time the last ferry runs. I do know that the town of San Miguel is very lively during carnival - it's a fun time and I'd definitely recommend it. It's definitely a family time as well - lots of children participate in the carnival.

The best parades are usually at night. The last ferry back is usually at 11PM but may be later now that 2 ferry lines are operating. Shouldn't be a problem since the parades are not late night affairs.
But do go to Cozumel--not much happening in Playa for carnival.

Thanks for the info . We wre in Cozumel for 10 days a few years ago and enjoyed it , but it wasn't during Carnaval.

Carnival will be over when you are there. Fat Tuesday is 2/24.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 09:07 AM.
