Caravan Tours?

We are looking at "Mexico's Ancient Civilizations" with Caravan Tours. Has any
reader used this tour company? If so, please give us a critique!

We have friends that used Caravan for a Costa Rica trip last year. We caught up to them on one leg and joined them for a tour. We were impressed with our short half day with them. Our friends were very pleased with their entire trip. And these friends are very picky.

Yes, I have been on Caravan's Ancient Civilizations tour ( and their guatemala, costa rica and Copper Canyon tours..I AM a fan)

The ancient Civ tour was great and complete, all meals included. Really good hotels. A bit of driving, but that is necessary to see as much as we do. did I mention the hotels were right on main squares.

I do not know how caravan tours can afford their prices, all tours are at $995. but as long as they make them I will buy them.

when you are in Veracruz, be sure to step out of the hotel at night, just down the street is the Zocalo where there are about 20 cafes in a row with roving mariachis and cuban cigars for sale. You will hav a blast.

I was just looking at ther website and they have a new hotel in Mexico City, calle dthe Sheraton Historico, we stayed at a lesser hotel when I was on tour, but, it seems it is that way with Caravan, always improving the tour without increasing the price.

as you can tell, I can't say enough about them. I wisht them the best. You will have a blast.

We recently signed up for the Ancient Civilizations trip with Caravan. Any suggestions to make the most of this trip would greatly be appreciated (ie books, dvds, tips).

CStern-thanks for the Veracruz tip. We will definately take advantage of that information-can't wait!

Caravan's "Mexico's Ancient Civilizations" tour was great! I do not see how they can provide all that for only 995.00 If I had a complaint, it would be that the hotel in Oaxaca did not have an elevator, and our room was on third floor. I hate to climb stairs...lazy I guess. The new Sheridan hotel in Mexica City is very nice and conviently located. I highly recomment this tour.

Hello,

I am looking at the same tour. But I may be travelling alone. Are there many other singles on the trip? What is the age group range in general? Also, I noticed on some of the days, one if free to explore the place 'at their own leisure'. Is it safe to go about these places on your own?

Thanks in advance,

Bob
