I am going to be staying in the Arenal area with 2 friends in a couple of weeks. We would like to take a private car service from the San Jose airport to Arena. Can anyone suggest a decently priced company to hire?

I am sure that your hotel can help with this. They work with local companies and will know who is good, and who isn't.

They don't really have a "car service" in Costa Rica. This will be private transfers in vans.

We hired our driver through the Lost Iguana. His name was Carlos, and he was very nice and personable. Since we got in late, he even brought clean pillows and blankets for us so we'd be comfortable on the drive. We paid $120. LI's phone number is (506) 2479-1555 if you'd like to book him.

Private - Monteverde to Nosara (glad we did not have to drive those roads).
We also used them for bookingour lodging, activities, air from Nosara back to SJO and rental car in Nosara. They were great with offices in Arenal and Monteverde. Very helpful when I called to reconfirm and change a couple things.
