Kitty, Thanks for posting back what you found out. Especially since it was different from what we all had observed before. I'm guessing things like this are part of PV getting up to speed in their desire for tourist economy. Great report that will help others in your situation. Thanks again.

Yes, thanks for that info! I haven't seen that happen here in Cancun or the Riviera Maya region (yet), but then we always have our own car seats, based on all that past experience, so maybe I missed it.
One question, though: you wrote "They took our luggage for us outside to a brand new Suburban SUV with a newish-style car seat already installed." Do you mean to say that this was one of the newer car models in which a harness-style child seat is built right into the regular seat? You see these on newer model minivans these days, too, where you usually fold down the first "layer" of the back of the seat to reveal the harnesses. The child is raised a bit by sitting on that layer and is then strapped in. If that's what you mean, then actually that's not so surprising as those are becoming more standard and maybe as services update their fleets, we'll see more and more of those. But personally I'm still very surprised if you're saying they were all set up with a traditional style car seat that you install and remove from the car, wholly separate from the car itself. Steve |
Glad things worked out for you How was your vacation?

I live and work in PV and use most of the transportation companies for my client business. THERE ARE NO transportation companies that have car seats and they will not purchase one for your personal use as they are not required in Mexico. You will need to bring your own. I know this is not what you wanted to hear - but it is the truth. It would cost you more in phone calls and aggravation in calling to locate one than just to bring your own for your own convenience. And once you arrive, 90% of the cabs do not have seat belts in the back that you can use to secure it with. At that point you would be better renting your own car and making sure that it has seat belts in the back that are in proper working order.

Kathy-
If you'll please more carefully read the thread it turned out that Kitty DID find a transpo company with car seats. |
I did note that she did find one and I have added that company to my list! I stand corrected! Thanks!

No problem, everyone was surprised to hear the answer! No one had seen or heard of what out OP found.

Hi again - just wanted to reply to Steve's comment regarding the type of car seat ... they actually WERE all set up with a traditional style car seat that you install and remove from the car, wholly separate from the car itself (it wasn't a feature of the car) Again, the Sheraton set this up for us and it was really well worth the money :)
On a side note, our trip was great! The Sheraton was fabulous and the weather (mid-Feb) was awesome!! |
oops, sorry, I meant the Westin! We stayed at the Westin and they set up the carservice for us :)

I have not see ANY taxi or Shuttle with car seats for babies, not in New York, California, all United States, France, Eangland, all Europe.
Why do you think a Taxi will have a car seat for babies? |
topping for VegasNative

Thanks for the clarification on my question. Shocking, I'd say, but positive! :-)

Do you have any contact information for this company? We are going next month with our 18 month old. We're taking a shuttle bus to and from the hotel but we'd like to go into town and this sounds like a great option.

Will be taking our 2yrold and 3yrold to PV to stay on in laws boat for 10 days.
Would definitely be interested in more contact info for this taxi/ car seat service that seems to only exists in this region. Will quiz them as well for info on something like this. |
