We have done the SkyTrek tour in Arenal a couple times and it is a fabulous time and if it is clear you'll get a beautiful view of the volcano and the lake. I highly recommend it. I don't have experience with the other canopy tours you mentioned.

We did Selvatura and enjoyed it. It is not as crowded as the others. Lots of high, long hanging bridges.

I used to recommend Sky Trek as the best canopy tour in Monteverde. But I prefer Selvatura. I have done both several times.

Both are excellent experiences, and you can't go wrong with either. The major difference is that Selvatura has more tree to tree cables. This translates into less hiking between platforms. I prefer their bridge walk too.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

Warm Regards,

I have to agree with Pat.

There is something a little special about zipping through the rain forest type vegetation below.

In some place on the Selvatura Canopy if the misty clouds are hanging low...you actually zip right through a little cloud...and come out the other end.

Percy and Pat,

I was also wondering the same thing. Since we will be visiting BOTH Arenal and Monteverde - we have the choice of doing the Canopy Tour at Selvatura, SkyTrek (Monteverde) and SkyTrek (Arenal). So it seems like both of you suggest doing Selvatura more...so we will go with that.

In addition - which of the 3 has the better hanging bridges? Should we do hanging bridges in both cities?

Just something to think about. I've done the two Sky Treks, not Selvatura. The first was in Monteverde, and our guide moved up the day for it because we rolled into town on a clear sunny day. The kind where you can see way out over the canopy to the Pacific on one side, Arenal volcano to the other. It was gorgeous! And, being a tiny bit chicken, these beautiful sights distracted me from being so very high, suspended from a cable. The next year it was in Arenal, where we had a lot of rain and ended up doing it in some fog. It was great but not as spectacular, and I think I would have had a harder time with not being able to see the end of the cable if I hadn't already experienced ziplining. My suggestion is wherever you do it, try for a clear day.

Does anyone else have any feedback on which is better from the 3 mentioned?

Canopy in Monteverde (SkyTrek or Selvatura) or in Arenal (SkyTrek).

Why is it so much cheaper at Selvatura in Monteverde??
