cano negro tour sugestions
We are travelling to CR in mid mar & are planning to visit the CAno Negro nature reserve - anyone suggest a good tour operator? Do we need to book in advance? (going over easter)
Any help would be appreciated |
We used Sunset Tours, and that was the absolute highlight of our trip; we loved it. We booked our tour through our hotel the first day we arrived, but it wouldn't hurt to book it in advance since you're going during a busy time.

We also went with Sunset Tours and thought they did a fabulous job.
BTW, Sunset operates out of the Arenal area, which is where it seems most Cano Negro tours originate. |
We also booked Sunset and they did a nice job. They tried very hard to help us see animals and birds, but unfortunately there just weren't too many visible that day. They pulled the van over so we could get out and see a sloth hanging in a tree on the side of the road. It was pretty cool to see it up so close.

stotz, they did the same thing for us. Do you think the same sloth has been hanging there for 2 years?!
We had excellent animal sightings - capuchins, howlers, caimans, sloths, and an abundance of cool birds. I wish you had had better luck. |
Unfortunate luck of the draw, stotz. :-(
Our experience was similar to VG's; we saw our very first monkeys (howlers and spiders)in CR on that tour, as well as sloths, caimen, bats, JC lizards and lots of birds. It was a nice highlight of our stay in the Arenal area. |
When I went with Sunset, the guide had the driver slow down for one stretch of of road where they usually spot a sloth. No luck that day for us, but we did see one during the cruise.
My experience with Sunset was as positive as volcanogirl's and cmerrell's. Keith |
