Cancun Restaurants
Can anyone recommend their favorite Cancun restaurants for breakfast/dinner. We will be there for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon in 2 weeks. We will be staying at the Ritz Carlton, but I assume the restaurants there are quite expensive.
Any suggestions? Thanks! |
El Mexicano in the la Masion blanca hotel zone Cancun. lunch buffet and at night Mariachi & folklore show .Great food

Try Captain's Cove, in front of the Omni, for a romantic dinner, lagoon view, and not expensive as Lorenzillos, or Laguna Grill.
Rolandi's at Plaza Caracol it's one of my favorites for italian food. |
Try the Cafe Salsa at JW Marriott. Just came back from staying there. They have an all you can eat prime rib and lobster buffet and a daily breakfast buffet.
Also try La Parilla in Downtown Cancun. Very authentic. |
I second the Captain's Cove. Also, across the street from the Ritz is a very small strip shopping area with a restaurant called La Plaquita or something like that. Good Mexican food, strolling musicians, can eat outside watching the sunset over the lagoon, and very reasonably priced. Margaritaville is a fun, rather lively, place down the road some. Argentine Steakhouse is the place to go for beef.

It's not inexpensive BUT if it's your honeymoon take a look at LaHabichuela for a wonderful dinning experience. We have been 8 times and are going again on the 7th of Nov. They have a web-site that shows some photos of their incredible garden seating as well as their menu. See you in CANCUN!

Gustinos at the Marriott has great food and wonderful service. Going after dark is best for romance. My wife and I dine there every time we visit Cancun and always love the experience.

I second Dougout's recommendation of La Habichuelas. Fantastic, very special, and it's really fun to get out of the hotel zone and go down town. Check out Fodors restaurant section for other good restaurants...

The Sol Melia in Cancun (looks like a succession of 5 aztec pyramids) has a restaurant called Prosciutto's. It's Italian fare with a Caribbean twist, but what's most remarkable about it is that for a very affordable price you get top notch service. I went there with some business associates and i was the only woman in the group. The maitre'd brought me a little satin pillow to rest my feet and helped undo my shoes!!!! A little excessive I know but it felt nice to be that pampered in a restaurant. They also cooked a couple of the entrees at the table-side, so it was entertaining. The price was extremely reasonable---about $40-50 per person for a 3 course meal with wine.

We just got back from 9 days at the Ritz. Puerto Madero, literally across the street from the Ritz, has very reasonable prices and is extremely comfortable and nice. None of the aggressive, heavily-pushing-margaritas service we found in other Cancun restaurants. Great food, beautiful sunset views. It's an Argentinian restaurant, but has tons of fresh seafood on the menu, and some basic Mexican dishes as well.

La Habichula in cancun centro is a great restaurant...fun, loud & lots of fun is La Parrilla also in Cancun Centro..GREAT MARGARITAS AT LA PARILLA!!!

We just returned last week from Cancun.
We liked Casa De Las Margaritas as the Isla shopping center. At night they had live music and folk dancing. For high end steak, just across from the Ritz was La Madero. (Sp?) An Argentine style steakhouse with really good meat and very good side dishes. But, it isn't cheap. On Punta Cancun, I really liked Maria Bonita. Very authentic Mexican with a fantastic 10 piece Mariachi band. Try something a bit different, like the Stuffed Quail with Red Rose sauce, to really enjoy it. |
By far the best restaurant for a true gastronomic delightful experience is LAGUNA GRILL in the hotel zone in front of Oasis. The food is spectacular -the chef uses the freshes of ingredients in the most wonderful ways. If you want a truly fine dining experience in a romantic lagoon setting check out Laguna Grill.
