Cancun Query: Where to Avoid Spring Breakers?

My husband and I just bought flights to Cancun for early Feb. and we are looking for a quiet, romantic place to stay to lay on the beach and eat good food for a long weekend. We are hoping to avoid the college students and crowds. Where would such a place be? Is Playa del Carmen one of those places? Many thanks for any and all suggestions.

Yes, PDC would be one of those places. Also, Puerto Morelos, Akumal and Tankah.

I recently spent one night in Playa del Carmen after an absence of several years. The place is a whole lot more built up and busy now than it was just a few short years ago. It still isn't filled with high rises, but the quaint little fishing village is long gone. I'd head to Tulum if you're looking for great beaches and quiet.

How about Casa de Suenos on Isla Mujeres?

It depends how much you want to spend?

Maroma and Ikal del Mar come to mind, but they're pricey. Fairmont Mayakoba also.

thanks to all for the great suggestions. We're looking to spend whatever the going rate is either for a house to rent or a quaint hotel or B&B for just three nights. We're flexible on price, but would rather not spend a fortune...

go to www.locogringo.com they have everything you need to plan your trip. in particular you could look at www.mezzanine.com.mx it's a very small, romantic and beautiful spot with a good asian fusion restaurant(&excellent mojito!). other restaurants nearby. long beach for walking and near tulum ruins.

Just stay away from the big low- priced all-inclusive resorts.

I think either Isla Mujeres or Playa del Carmen could be what you seek.

Many good suggestions here, and I don't think you have to be too worried about spring breakers anywhere. The big break is in March. Early Feb. you should be fine.
