Cancun or Cozumel

Haven't been to Mexico before. We are traveling with 2 teen daughters (14 & 17) Which would be the best choice. Any suggestions on where to stay? We will probably do all inclusive.

Can't voucher for Cancun, but Cozumel is fantastic!!!! Your kids will have a great time. We have stayed at the Allegro (formerly Diamond) all inclusive twice. In my opinion, it's a great way to go with the kids in tow. Beautiful facilities, INCREDIBLE beach and a great staff!!! You will have a wonderful time here. I know our family did!!!

definately recommend Cozumel over Cancun. A much more conservative and family friendly culture

Forgot to say that if we did Mexico with two teens we would definately go to Isla Mujeres. Very small town with a great beach. You can let the kids run and not have to worry about a thing. We have a 15 page travel document on the island and surrounds that we can e-mail you if you request. dan and ginny

The above writer always recommends Isla Mujeres!! I like Isla and I did spend a week there, but it is a small island and is somewhat limited. I doubt that there are any all inclusives on the island. (I don't like AI, so that isn't a disadvantage from my perspective.) Isla Mujeres is great for R&R - we both needed a break and that's exactly what we got during our week. Cozumel has a lot to offer - there's more of a town, IMO the snorkeling is better and it's easy to take a day trip or 2 over to the mainland to see Tulum, etc. You could also do the same from Isla, although it would be a longer trip. (Playa Norte off Isla Mujeres is really nice though - I don't think there's really an equivalent in Cozumel.) I don't like Cancun - too busy, too commercial. Playa del Carmen is fine also.

There's a really good travel summary of Cozumel in one of the posts. You could do a search on Cozumel - it wasn't that long ago and provides a lot of good information.
