Cancun in June, still Spring-Break?

My wife and I plan to stay a week in Cancun, mid-June (Mid-forties, no children). We are a little worried about Forum-talks on young-people-invasion at Cancun on Spring-Break. Is this situation still present in June? Please, an advice will be appreciated. What about PDC? Thanks. Anthony

My guess is since most colleges are out on break by mid-May, there will be no "spring break" happening at this time. Spring break usually spans the month of march.

I too am going in June & have read on other boards that altho it is not college "spring break" that there are a lot of high school kids there celebrating graduation. Have read that June has spring break atmosphere, but its not as bad as it is in March-April.

I was in Cancun the last week in May about 5 or 6 years ago and it was like Spring break... Maybe Kimi is right - they may have been high school kids - very hard to tell these days. But they were EVERYWHERE, very NOISY, DRUNK and invasive. I wouldn't go there that time of year again personally. Whatever you decide, best of luck and have fun.

I've been in Cancun many different times of the year. It's always like spring break. June is definately a bad month because of graduating seniors. The last several years I have rented a car and driven down to tulum and coba and Bacalar. Bypass cancun altogether if you just want a beach to relax. Try some of the nice little places along the Boca Paila rd. and visit Tulum. The drive from the airport is interesting and there are little places to shop along the way. Stay at cabanas Tulum. It's clean and staff is friendly. 45 a night as of last february. Good breakfast, but eat dinner next door at Ana Y Jose.

If you don't need night life, want some good snorkeling but not far from Cancun I would recommend Puerto Morelos. Too quiet for kids, they'ed hate it. Stayed for a month two years ago, was by last winter, hasn't changed too much contrary to most spots along that coast. Isla Mujeres is pretty good but a bit of a pain if you want to explore the Yucatan at all.
Happy travels
Brian
www.RoadsScholar.com

I was there three years ago during the first half of June, and there was actually a "High School Graduate Week." It wasn't pretty at night around the hotel zone, but you can avoid it by going downtown for your meals. We stayed downtown and spent so much time outside of Cancun that we didn't know it was even happening for several days.
