Cancun-Horseback riding
My family, wife, and two teenage sons, and I will be in Cancun in November. We'd like to do some horseback riding. Any suggestions?

There are several places south of Cancun along highway 307.
The place I'd recommend is Tres Rios ecopark. There are a lot of other things to do and see there in addition to riding, and you could easily make a day of it. The thing I like best about it though is that they have very nice horses and equipment which they take very good care of. I have horses, and I am extremely picky about making sure that the horses I ride on vacation are well-cared-for and healthy. Some of the other joints along the way are high-volume touristy kinds of places where they bus a whole bunch of people down there together and it's mayhem. When we went to Tres Rios, it was only me and my husband and the guide. Plus, we got to ride a little bit on the beach. Be sure to make it very clear to the guides if anyone is a beginner. I told them I was an advanced rider and got a horse that was muy loco. :) |
We probably went to a tourist place. It was on a bus and it included lunch. I can't remember the name but the people made it wonderful and fun. I am not an expereinced rider so a slow horse was fine for me. We rode on the ocean for quite some time and acutally went into the water with on a horse. It was great and I enjoyed the experience very much.

Go to a search engine online and type in Horseback Riding Cancun. It will come up with ranches near the area that have it.
Hope that helps! |
The closest place to Cancun is Rancho Loma Bonita -- it's a few miles south on highway 307.
They have a web site with info: www.lomabonitamex.com Have fun! Mark www.tiogringo.com |
I agree with Tio. Rancho Lomo Bonita was highly recommended. Was there last Sept. It's not far from Cancun, is a 1/2 day tour. Got to ride the horses in the water. Had a wonderful time.
