Cancun drinking water
 

Is the water in Cancun safe to drink (specifically at the JW Marriott or Fiesta Americana Aqua? I am traveling with two small children and cannot guarantee that they will not drink the water...Thanks

12 trips for us and no problems. I drink the purified tap water all the time. Can't say for sure about kids or those with sensitive systems. Each nice resort has their own purification system. The two you mentioned are definitely in the "nice" category.

In the Cancun hotel zone my family has never encountered any problems after many trips. We drink the water from the tap; water habits are no different than at home. Outside of the hotel zone however, such as downtown Cancun, I would be careful and only drink bottled water and avoid ice in beverages.

I drank the agua at the JW; no problems at all! However, in Playa del Carmen, be more careful!

I've been to Cancun twice, Riveria Maya three times with trips into Cancun, and Playa Del Carmen. All but once I was very ill! Take Caution!!!

In all of Mexico do not drink the tap water unless you know it's purified and filtered.

Do NOT drink the tap water and try to keep from swallowing water while showering. The ice in your drinks at hotels is fine since it is purified. Stick to bottled water for drinking.
