Cancun- do I need a birth certificate?

I was wondering if I need a copy of my birth certificate to travel to Cancun. I thought I read somewhere that a Voter's Registration Card and Driver's License would be enough. Anybody know for sure?

Thanks.

Terri

If you don't have a passport, you MUST have a certified copy of your birth certificate and one other form of picture ID, i.e. driver's license.

As above certified copy of a birth certificate with a raised seal and additional picture ID.

Why don't you get a passport?

Strongly urge you to get a passport. It is important to get to Mexico and to get back to the USA.

Our son vacationed in Canada and then tried to get back to the US with his wife and kids . After the ordeal they are all getting passports.

Completely agree. You won't have problems getting INTO Mexico, but post-911 you'll sure get hassled coming back into the US. The Canadian and Mexican boarders are the most strict. Get a passport!
