Cancun all inclusive with tweens- water park a plus

Hi all,
We are planning a trip with 2 families (2 adults and 2 tweens in each family). We would like to stay in an all inclusive in the Cancun area for 3 nights- early August 08.

We would like to stay in an all inclusive resort that also offers a water park, lazy river etc. that tweens or young teens could enjoy... any suggestions???

Thanks!!

Look at some AI resorts on the Riviera Maya (you fly into Cancun) The Barcelo Maya has a water park.
The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo has a lazy river and a wave pool and lots of activities for the kids.

If you stay at the OCCIDENTAL GRAND XCARET, you'll receive 1 free admission p/p to the Xcaret Eco Park.

There is a waterpark in Cancun called Nizuc Park/Wet 'N' Wild. It's not apart of any specific hotel, and is open to the public.

We stayed at the Barcelo Maya & LOVED it but I have to say that the waterpark is really only for little kids. They even kicked adults out who tried to use the slides, etc....probably because it was sooo shallow that you would kill yourself if you went down & hit the bottom. The pools were awesome & beach was incredible. I would love to find a hotel in that area with a lazy river & a little more grand water park. Good luck

Thanks for your replys. I will check into the Barcelo Maya and the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. We really want to spend our entire time at the resort and not venture out to Wet n Wild though we may check out the OCCIDENTAL GRAND XCARET and see about their eco park. I saw the Wet n Wild when we were there earlier this month and it looked empty!! I thought that was strange.

We will only be in Cancun for 3 nights this visit and want to enjoy the resort and all that it includes... hopefully that will be a lazy river or some form of a waterpark.

Thanks again for all of your suggestions and I welcome any others.

The Occidental does not have a real beach. It is a man made lagoon. No access to the ocean.

Schmerl,
Thanks for letting me know. We do want to stay on the ocean. I will keep looking...
thanks again!

The eco park isn't part of the Occidental resort, it's a public park you can visit regardless of wehre you stay. Another similar such park in the same area is Xel Ha. Some people prefer one over the other. If you search their names here, you'll find some comparisons.

The park referred to with Occidental is called Xcaret.

Thanks.. I have heard of the Xel Ha park. We really want to find an AI that has a lazy river or water park suitable for tweens. We will only be in Cancun for 3 nights and would really like to "stay put" in the resort.

The Iberostar Paraiso In Riveria Maya is the only lazy river AI resort that I have found.

Has anyone stayed at the Great Parnasus (sp)..? It says that it is a new resort on the hotel strip in Cancun and has a waterpark for kids.. it does not state the ages that are allowed.

The Iberostar Paraiso complex is fantastic, but the lazy river is VERY lazy and the wave pool runs for about 15 minutes every hour. There are plenty of activities at the resort to keep your children busy though.
