Cancun Airport to Cozumel
 

I am planning a trip to Cozumel and it looks like I can save about $300 per round trip ticket by flying to Cancun. Basesd on this savings does it make sense to fly into Cancun and use ground/ferry travel to get to Cozumel? If so, any suggestions on best/safest/cheapest way to do this? Many Thanks!!

It's very easy. You can take the shuttle from the airport into downtown Cancun, where you can catch a bus at the bus terminal to Playa del Carmen. Once you get to PDC, you can catch the ferry to Cozumel.

I don't think you need to go into Cancun to catch a bus. There's a bus company called Riviera that runs from the airport to Playa Del Carmen. Costs about $7.00 US. Leaves about every hour.

Yep, Jean is right. They are blue buses outside the DOMESTIC terminal with Riveria Maya on them. You will have to walk over, not far. Buy your ticket inside the DOMESTIC terminal, not the international terminal. We paid $14/round trip (or $8 one way)inside the international terminal but our tickets were stamped 55 pesos each which is about $6 each way. They were a little cheaper at the domestic terminal ticket counter.<BR><BR>If you are arriving in the afternoon, the bus leaves at 3:00 and 4:45. Try not to miss the 3:00 if you can. I'll try to find the ferry schedule too if you want it. Let me know.

There is a little bit of a hassle factor involved but to save $300 per person, it's a no brainer. Take the Riviera bus straight from CUN to PDC.<BR>You can walk easily, or hire a bike-taxi for the short trip to the pier. Ferries run about every half hour for around $11.00 or so. Be sure to allow plenty of extra time on your return back to PDC and CUN so you'll get to airport plenty early.
