looking at the Omni cancun, they have pretty much what we are looking for (all inclusive, beach front and family atmosphere) and fit our budget $700/ person. The reviews however are mixed and not so recent. I was hoping for some recent reviews on this hotel.

KVR: Thanks for the list.

Have you read the reviews and seen the pictures on Trip Advisor?

Cancun has had some issues with beach erosion in the last few years. You may want to consider a hotel at the top end of the "7" in the hotel zone. If you wanting family friendly, the RIU Cancun or the Riu Caribe are good choices. We stayed at the Oasis Viva (attached to the Grand Oasis Viva), we went at a bad time as there was way too much construction going on, but the food was good and it is a family friendly hotel. Beach was nice. Construction should be done by now. Dreams is also another good option, but don't know if it will fit your budget range. Also look at the Ambience Villas. More of a condo type/villa hotel, but AI.

Just a note that Gran Melia Cancun ( http://www.granmeliacancun.com/en/ ) from KVR's list above is not inclusive, although it is a beautiful hotel.

According to Fun Jet, the Gran Melia Canucn does offer an AI plan. That's where I got the information. Here's the link:
