cancun

Just wondering if the exchange rate for American dollar is good these days for the Mexican peso.

Also, can someone suggest a store in Cancun where I could buy some wooden toys for kids. Not sure if I can even find any wooden toys, but often Fodor friends have wonderful ideas and helpful hits.

Appreciate your help. Have a good night.

Bank exchange rate is currently $1 USD = 13.4710 MXN

You'll get almost that by using a bank ATM with your debit card, slightly less exchanging cash-for-cash at a cambio, likely even a bit less if you are spending USD in a shop or restaurant directly.

Hopefully you'd never get less than about 12/1. But sometimes vendor default to the old 10/1, which is why it's a good idea to exchange your own money.

Although it is common in Cancun for places to accept USD.

Yes exchange your money, taxi drivers for example will use the 10-1 rate so you lost 30% using USD.

If you do come across wooden toys, make sure they are NOT painted! Never can be certain the paint is safe for kids!
