Canapy Tours-Please help
I want to try a canapy tour in Manuel Antonio.
Has anyone had any experiences with the newer Gaialink- RioSPAraiso canapy tour or any other of the companies that run these canapy tours? Are they really worth doing and how much time should I set aside in the day for the entire tour. Thanks for any help |
Yes, they are really worth doing! Most of them will take a morning or an afternoon of your time. Especially if it is right there close to where you are staying. No experience with the one you mention, but the activity itself is a lot of fun. Understand: it isn't something you do for wildlife viewing. (although some companies advertise it as such). .THAT just doesn't happen on the ziplines. . .it is stricly for the thrill of the ride!

I agree. We had a blast, but the only wildlife we saw was a toucan. (I think the laughing and screaming has something to do with that)! We went with Canopy Safari, I think, and really enjoyed it. The guides were very informative, showing us lots of plants, insects, etc. We loaded up in the back of a big truck and drove thru the countryside to the spot. After, we ate, and swam in a cool little water hole. I don't think there are any in MA, but some parts of CR have canopy tours where you walk quietly across bridges...probably more for wildlife viewing. Take a towel, camera, bottle of water. Wear your suit under shorts if you want to swim after.

My husband and I did the Gaialink tour last October. We were the only ones on that particular tour. It takes the better part of the day, if you do the "6-in-1" tour, or whatever they call it. We're in our 50's and it was challenging. The horseback ride in and out is not for the faint of heart. Lots of steep inclines, up and down, and narrow trails. The canopy tour was a blast, but as the others have said, take it for the adrenaline rush (and you'll have one!), but not for wildlife watching. Lunch was homecooked and fun. The soak in the natural hot tub was great and much appreciated. We were there during green season, and experienced torrential rains before the horseback ride back down. The stream we crossed had turned into a rapids, and my husband's horse stumbled, throwing him into the water. Very scary, but he was OK. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat!

Canopy Safari is great. They pick you up at your hotel, take you on the tour, feed you, and bring you home. We had a great time!
