Jackie, you might want to wait on Canada 3000 - the news is that they aren't doing well. Not sure at this moment whether they are declaring bankruptcy, but that's the talk.

anyone else booked an upcoming holiday with canada 3000?. just put approximately 1700.00 (Cnd $'s)!(no cancellation insurance) for a mexican holiday at xmas! Here's to hoping they'll survive!!!!!

I believe the Canadian Government has something called the Airlines Securities Act which should protect you if you have all ready paid for your vacation. The affiliated airlines usually pick up those passengers who have booked through a failing airline. Good luck Joan!

I phoned VISA today (CIBC Aerogold) and was told that VISA would recover the cost of the airfare if the airlines goes under, and if the trip had not yet started.

well looks like a waiting and wondering game now if your a ticketholder with canada 3000, as i am. Although right now latest is mostly likely they've declared bankruptcy, visa cannot refund until they actually cancel the flight. but im glad to know the 3600.00 I paid for myself and my daughter will be credited. whew!!

there was a lady on the news last night who was flying her family and her fiancees family to pv for her wedding on saturday!(from vancouver, Canada) there are stranded passengers at the airport and those that are stranded all over the country trying to get back home!

Susan Nov 9th, 2001 04:58 AM

Toronto Breakfast Television (on CITYTV) ran an item about Canada 3000. Apparently employees were at the airport trying to help stranded passengers. What a nightmare.

Re Dnorrie's comment, I don't actually think it's the Canadian government. It's a provincial arrangement, I believe. I know that we have a compensation fund in Ontario, but some of the provinces don't have it. I don't even know if it's related to the government, but you have to have booked through a travel agent. If you went directly to the airline, I think you're out of luck through this fund.

I don't know that Canada 3000 has any affiliated airlines. Very depressing for those who booked winter vacations.
