calling cards in costa rica

Last year when traveling in Panama I was able to get a calling card which was very inexpensive so that I could call back home. I have a little guy that I like to call to check on.. Is this also a possibility is Costa Rica. Thanks in advance

Yes -- you can buy them at most grocery stores in CR.

Thanks Sandy, One less thing to worry about.

They are called 199 cards, and you can get them up to $20, I believe. I usually buy the 3000 colones card (must be at least that much for international calls), but last summer discovered the $20 card, and found it handier.

How much talk time can I get with a twenty dollar card? Thanks

I'm trying to remember--didn't post it for you earlier because I wasn't sure. I THINK about an hour. You won't find anything better than that--calling from there is expensive no matter how you cut it, but the 199 card is as good as it gets.

That is expensive. When I was in Panama last year a five dollar card gave us over 4 hours..I knew that was a great deal. Thanks again

Yes, it is expensive. I bought a card in Panama, also, and noticed the difference. When I am at home, I can call Germany for example, for about 6 cents per minute. Costa Rica always costs 30 cents per.
