Well, nomadwoman, I googled (a term a former "pen friend" taught me) your "quilting" thing and all I came up was:
http://www.lanaskataka.com.ar/Algodon.htm Tell me whether I am on the right track and I'll see whether I can do any better. |
Nomadwoman, there's no Argentina post - the selection is just for sort purposes. If you post and select Argentina, you'll see it in the 'general' post and also if you search on 'Argentina'.

thanks everyone for your help. avrooster i did look at the web site for lanas kataka and it does appear to be the type of place i am looking for.im not that good in spanish but as long as they sell to the public it should work for me. i am just looking for stores that sell yarn or fabric for sewing/quilting.does anyone know where the location of the store is? the address was rosario 803 capital federal BA. is that close to the recoleta area? does anyone know of any more stores that sell yarn or fabric? thanks again!
|
Nomadwoman, apparently you'll be staying in the Recoleta area. Lanas whatever is within city limits, but far from the Recoleta, according to the map on their website. In another thread, my nephew santiagov suggested you try the "barrio del Once", but my wife says the best area for that kind of thing is on Scalabrini Ortiz street after crossing Córdoba, going west. This area is not THAT far from the Recoleta. You should ask your hotel to call a radio taxi for you, to take you there. Anything else?
|
thanks av rooster i'll take your advice and check out the scalabrini cortez street when i get to BA.is it possible to go to the lanas store by subway? it seems like a nice store from their web site thanks again
|
I don't know if the subway goes that far. I'll try to find out tomorrow.
|
Good morning, nomadwoman!
Yes, you can go by subway to the lanas whatever store. Take the A line up the last stop, which is Primera Junta and the store should be in the immediate vicinity. However, beware of "montazumas revenge, bali belly", whatever that is. |
thanks again avrooster for your help! montazumas revenge is when you go to mexico and drink the local water, eat fruit you can't peel or raw salads and you get bad stomach aches or diarrhea. bali belly is the same thing but in bali, indonesia. basically its caused by the difference of germs etc in the different water systems.
