Yeah, those darned ATM's can be so fickle. Hate to discuss this, because I know there are some very knowledgeable folks reading Fodors, and I don't know all the details about what works best and why. We have a new ATM card, and because it is Cirrus, is supposed to be more reliable. Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason, however. Like when my husband's card works and mine doesn't and vice versa. Always a great thrill when the money machine hands over the colones in Costa Rica!

There are a couple of other decent restaurants in Brasilito. The Happy Snapper (west side of the square) and Perro Bravo at Hotel Brasilito. We weren't disappointed with either one. Neither quite as special as Camaron Dorado, but good food nevertheless.

how far is flamingo from capitain suiso - can you drive after dinner in the dark?

It's about 30 minutes. Yes, you can drive there in the dark--just be careful and go slowly. Suggestion: Go before dark--the sunsets in Flamingo are spectacular--then you will already be there! Drive down to the beach in front of the Flamingo Beach Resort. You can parallel park there on the road.
