Cachaca Source

For those of you who, like me, fell in love with caipirinhas in Brazil, I found a source of cachaca that does not need to be imported from Brazil with a hefty shipping charge. Go to www.samswines.com and you can order a bottle for $15.99 plus shipping from Chicago. Now I just need to make sure I remember how our bartender showed me to make it!

Cachaca is getting easier to find -- my local stores carry it. The secret of a good caipirinha is mashing the limes in the sugar. It takes few minutes, not seconds, to do it right.

Thanks for that secret. My cachaca arrived yesterday, so maybe this weekend I'll get some limes and try my hand at it. Wonder what it would be like if I used Key limes? Combine two of my favorite tastes! Wish my local stores carried it, but maybe if I ask them they can order it and save me the postage (although the total packing and shipping costs for 2 good sized bottles was only about $12).
