cabo trip last week of Dec

i am considering a trip to Cabo during last week of December till jan 1st while traveling solo. i chose that area because it would be warmer than seattle at the time and to get a chance to relax. however, the prices of the resorts during that specific week are higher than i expected. the best deal so far is the welk resort but it is "garden view". also the reviews say it is a little away from everything. any advice on places to stay would be appreciated. to my surprise most resorts are way cheaper (600$ less per night) during the 3rd week of December.
thanks in advance

Every where will be expensive, even the smaller, boutique places. We stay at the Pueblo Bonito resorts. You may want to look at Redweek, VRBO, or even e-bay for that time frame for those trying to rent out their weeks.

Also take a look at San Jose del Cabo. More laid back.

I did one solo trip to Cabo San Lucas and had a great time (I'm from Seattle & usually go to Puerto Vallarta).

I stayed at the Mar de Cortez hotel downtown. It's not a "resort" just a simple budget Mexican hotel. Not sure the prices at the holidays, I paid only $67/night but it was a few years ago.

I just like to kick around, basically I did the same things I do in PV.

I went to the beach (Medano Beach is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel). I walked all over around downtown Cabo and went in local shops (fabric, crafts, department store), visited a church, went to the small historical museum. Mostly just R&R though... rad books by the hotel pool, got some sun. Went out for nice meals. Shopped at the mall ;-)

But there are all manner of regular tourist activities and tours available if you are into that... boat trips, snorkeling, surfing (up the coast), booze cruise, etc.
