Need some advice on how to get from Cabo to magdalena bay. What is the best way, air, car??? Cost involved and time.
Can this be done as a day trip with whale watching??

I'm sorry I can't help with the info for Magdalena Bay. I believe Panchito or Rancho Tours does a day trip there to see the whales. Check out the Los Cabos forum on www.tripadvisor.com You will probably get some replies and better info.

We drove to San Carlos after flying into Loreto and getting a car. Met up with a large cruiser in SC that we had chartered from Cabo and went marlin fishing for five days outside the bay, coming in each night to anchor and living on the boat. Great trip, lots of fish, but expensive ...

Anyway, you can drive up from Cabo but I'm guessing it's maybe 3 hours each way (not sure, but it's well past La Paz). There is no scheduled air service to the area but perhaps there are charters that take small planes up for tours.

If you drive it would mean a LOT of driving, and the bay is really big once you're there ... there's at least one small decent (very basic) hotel in San Carlos where you can stay, I know the guy used to set people up with panga operators for whale watching trips so maybe check on that and plan on overnighting one night?

Or find an operator in Cabo who can fly you up and provide the boat?
