Cabo San Lucas Resort Question

My husband's cousin is getting married in Cabo San Lucas this coming summer. The wedding and festivities will be at the Capella Pedregal Resort. My in-laws are planning on attending, but they are concerned about the cost of staying at that particular resort. How feasible is it to stay at another resort?

I haven't been to Mexico, and it's my understanding that the beaches are private and not public like Hawaii. In Hawaii, it's pretty feasible to visit another resort area, but I'm not sure if the same is true for Mexico.

Any advice? Suggestions on neighboring resorts that are less expensive? Condos?

There are plenty of places to stay nearby. I don't know if Capella Pedregal is a place anyone would be hassled about getting into on the day of the wedding if they're not a hotel guest. The couple should get that question answered for you. If that part is cleared up, there are many other places to stay that would be a short taxi ride away. And those many other places would also be within walking distance of all the things there are to do and good places to eat around the marina in Cabo San Lucas.

Beaches in Mexico are public.

You don't say which month the wedding is this summer. July and August get very hot. Brace yourself if it's during that time.

Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate the input very much!

Sorry not familiar with teh set up for Capella Pedregal (although I hear it's very nice). But I don't see why you couldn't stay in town at any of many hotels there. I stayed right downtown at Mar de Cortez for a week. It's a normal Mexican-style hotel for abourt $60-70/night, and use a taxi to get around (or even rent a car) as mentioned above.

Next door, and walking distance is Playa Grande Resort which is affordable and very nice. See http://www.voyagemonkey.com for details on Cabo. All beaches in Mexico are public. Visitors are allowed to go to the3 Capella resort as they do have restaurants and bars there that are open to the public, and you can use the beach there as well.

That's great news! Thanks for the information!

You definitely won't have a problem getting into Capella for a wedding taking place there (they do not require that all guests stay on site). My best recommendation for accommodations (nearby) would be as follows:

Hotel Finisterra (directly next door - they will be all inclusive starting in March)
Playa Grande
The Ridge at Playa Grande

There are also SEVERAL really great villas in Pedregal (close to Capella) that you may be interested in. The villas start at $315/nt in the summer (2 bedrooms/sleeps 4). If you have a larger group that want to stay together, this is definitely the most affordable way to go!

Good luck!
