Cabo or Puerto Vallarta

We are considering a family (2A, plus 3 children 7 - 17) trip to Mexico in mid-June.
We are trying to decide between Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Will we be miserably hot or just fine as long as we stay on the beach. Also, will rain be a big factor in PV in mid June?

PV hands down. Both will be a bit warm so AC is important. Cabo is like going to over priced San Diego IMO.

I was in Puerto Vallarta in June this year. It was great. We didn't have any rain at all. Yes it was hot, but in no way did that spoil the fun.

As above, I would definitely be sure you have air con in your hotel room, for sleeping at night.

I've been to Cabo about a dozen times, to Vallarta three times ... you will probably have a more well-rounded vacation in Vallarta.

I agree with above posters about PV. Mostly because Puerto Vallarta is very kid friendly. The Malecon has a lot of activity to entertain youths by the outdoor theater in the early evening. You only have to decide if one of the resorts (usually Nuevo Vallarta or the Hotel Zone) is to your liking or if you would be happy in Old town on/or near Los Muertos beach. I favor Old Town: The flea market by the river Cuale has the swinging bridges kids might like, the flea market itself, walking to the grocery stores, bakeries, shops, shops and more shops, the beach, the beach restaurants, the artists displaying their wares on the malecon, PiPi's restaurant 3 blocks up from the northerly part of the Malecon, ice cream stores, etc. It is much easier to entertain the whole family in PV. I also was there the last two years in June and no rain. Any time after June can be uncomfortable, especially August.

DH & I are taking a quick trip to Mexico next week. It was between PV & Cabo. Airfare to Cabo was the deciding factor. You will probably enjoy either place with kids.

One more vote for PV.

I'd pick Cabo if my biggest goal was to golf and fish, but for a family trip...it's a PVR slam dunk!

Have fun!

I didn't find Cabo as kid or youth friendly as Puerto Vallarta. Maybe the posters can elaborate on what there is in Cabo for the youngsters.

Hands down Puerto Vallarta so kid friendly

Besides the difference in tourist ammenities, they are totally different landscapes.

Cabo is dry and at the tip of a desert peninsula. PV sits in a large ocean bay surrounded by mountains and jungle and is very lush.

The only advantage to Cabo is that the water is much clearer for snorkelling. Besides that PV is a much better choice.

I also vote for PV. The only advantage to the Cabo area is that there are some beautiful hotels and resorts there, so if you're looking for luxury, Cabo has that in spades.
Otherwise, PV has the personality and beauty.
The heat in Cabo will be a dry heat, PV will be humid.
