Buzios hotel: the Casagrande?
 

This hotel looks wonderful on the web (http://www.buziosonline.com.br/casag...agrande_in.htm). The prices are very good, and they answered my e-mail promptly and helpfully, too (always a good sign!). Anyone have any experience with it? Any recommendations for favorite beaches and hotels on beaches for snorkeling?

No one out there familiar with Casagrande??

I have a feeling this is s new hotel as I have been to this beach several times and never noticed it before. I stayed on this beach at the Colanna Park which was the closet hotel to the beach that I could see, this hotel must be across the street from the beach which is fine, it looks great on the website. Next time you communicate with the hotel ask them if it is new, you probably can't go wrong plus I like Joao Fernandes beach as it has great restaurants right on the beach and minimal waves and walking distance to downtown for happy hour only 10 minutes.

Is this beach good for snorkeling, not full of boats and such?
Is the Colanna Park hotel directly on the beach? Or are most hotels there across the street from the beach? We want a place we can walk to/from the beach all day and night from the hotel, just a minute or two away. Asking too much?

P.S. Just looked at the Colonna Park website. Looks like quite a climb up and down to the beach. Is that correct, Dondiega?

there were some steps going up to the colonna park but I donr remember it to be too bad for an old guy like me. Even if the hotel is across the street then that is no problem your so close. This beach does not have much traffic or boats, pretty mellow and low waves, I liked it but there are other beaches in Buzios, I have not been to them all. this should be good for snorkling

Thank you again, Dondiega. Do you think the water will be warm enough the first of August to snorkel and swim without wet suits? I read it's about 20C, but that doesn't mean much to me.

Well as you know they have opposite seaons then the east coast of the US so August is their winter. But you could have days in the 70-80 degree range which is not too bad, their winters are not like our winters and there summers I have seen where it reaches 110 degrees easily.

What about the water temp?
