Bus from san jose airport to Arenal

Hello, we will be landing in Costa Rica around 1 o'clock and would like to go directly to Arenal. We are not renting a car. Do you know if there is a bus from the airport to Arenal?? We heard that we could rent a private bus (we are 4) and that would cost 120$. Do we have other alternative, directly from the airport? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

You might check Interbus, but with 4 people, you'd probably do just as well to hire a private driver. Private drivers usually charge just for the van, and Interbus shuttles charge per person.

cat, we always book our private drivers through our hotels before we go. The driver will be there waiting at the airport for you with a sign with your name on it. We've had great luck doing it this way - even with flight delays, the drivers have always been there waiting patiently. The vans have been nice and air-conditioned, and it's convenient that they run according to your schedule.

Pat Hewitt, you can find his name on this thread, made our arrangements. I believe it's $125 from SJ to Arenal. We're headed from there to Manuel Antonio and I believe that's costing us $175. We used a driver in Belize and found it cost about the same as renting a car and much more carefree.
