Bus from Mendoza to Santiago
 

Can anyone recommend the bus ride from Mendoza to Santiago? How long of a drive is it? Can you also recommend a good bus company.

There are several bus companies which do the trip: Andesmar, TurBus, Cata are three. Because you go through an international border, it is difficult to give precise times. It should take 6-7 hours. However, on long weekends the delays at customs can be very long.
The scenery is great and it is well worth doing November-March.

In Chile there are several wine areas: Casablanca, Colchagua, Maule etc. Except for the Limarí wine region in the north. they are all fairly accessible from Santiago. The wine region of Mendoza is all clustered around Mendoza. It really depends on how much time you have, but the Colchagua valley is very nice.You could take the wine train if you are going to be here on a Saturday.

We did the bus ride from Mendoza to Santiago about 10 years ago. It was truly spectacular and the highlight of our trip. We hit the crossing on a holiday weekend, so there were long lines of vehicles at the border inspection. In all the trip took about 8 hours. The bus was comfortable. They served snacks & beverages and showed a movie. Very worth while and I highly recommend it.
