Bus between Pavos airport and SJO international airport?
I am flying into the Pavos airport at San Jose, but flying out of SJO. Is there a bus that runs between the airports, or will I have to take a taxi?
Thanks for any help. Martha |
You'll probably have to take a taxi. There's a local Pavas bus that services the airport, but connecting from that to another local bus out to SJO would be difficult.

There's a local public bus but you have to go to downtown San Jose and then change buses. It's going to take a couple of hours and won't be much fun schlepping your bags and trying to keep track of everything so it doesn't walk off.
The taxi is a much better idea. |
Thanks very much - any idea on what I should expect for a taxi fare?

Make sure they start the meter "La Maria"
It should be roughly $1.20 for the first km and $0.70 for each additional so $16 for the 21 km trip. Depending on the route they take there may be a toll but it's only $0.20 so don't let them tell you it's $10 extra. |
There's a group of "airport taxis" at the Pavas airport. The drivers are inside the terminal and will ask you where you want to go. They don't use their meters. The regular red taxis parked outside in front of the terminal do use their meters. I'd say, plan on $20-$25 one way just to be safe.

Great - thanks!!!!

Last May we paid $30 to go from Pavas to Hotel Bougainvillea which is about 20 minutes past SJO. We had pre-arranged the taxi in advance through Iguana Lodge in Puerto Jimenez. I would think your fare would be less than $30 we paid.
