i need to know about a good hotel or aprt hotel in the recoleta area suitable for an 1 adult and 2 teen girls
art suites, suipachaand arroyo suites ?
also for $70 rate for a 15 day stay

This is how it works, the agencies have better prices than the hotels themselves because they work through wholesalers. Crazy as it sounds this is the reality. On top Cintia is honest , professional and reliable. You can also get her quote and then check directly but you will be pleasantly surprised with the differencte at least it worked for me.

Are you crazy or what? How can you say that? If that is so, there must be a lot of Cintias because as far as I can see there are many here who happen to have used their company and enjoyed it a lot.
That is how I found about them through Fodors.
I used wowargentina.com and loved it, and it helped me a lot and that is the reason why I recommended it.
I live in the US , go often to SA for business and will continue to recommend Cintia &Wow argentina etc. if you do not mind.

Hi Lilb112 - I always stay at a place called "Design Suites" - It's a really nice place - - very cool design and not too expensive...it's in a great location three blocks from the subway...and your teens should love it as it is very hip...there are some scuff marks on the wall - - but other wise it's fabu...and 5/10 minute walk to the cemitary.

I will personally vouch for the fact that Cintia is an outstanding travel agent. Like Graziella, I have mentioned her often on this and several travel sites for two reasons. First, because her hard work deserves recognition. Second, because this is a forum for us to share good and bad experiences. The idea is to steer fellow travelers toward providers who deliver and away from those who do not. Cintia delivers.

Suipacha and Arroyo is not precisely in the Recoleta area. It is in Retiro and is closer to downtown/Plaza San Martin than to Recoleta cemetary (the heart of Recoleta's tourist area).

Not to sound alarmist, but here is a fact you should know: Two days ago a French exchange student was found murdered in her apartment on Florida street in the downtown area. It could happen anywhere, but while I would visit Florida/downtown during the day...I would prefer to find a hotel away from downtown.

it is always safer to be in places where there are more people. Florida St is one of them,where there are policemen walking all the time.
What happened to the young girl can happen everywhere. the case is still being investigated but the weird thing is that she authorized the entrance of this man, she herself opened the door to him because she knew him pretty well. Tourists are more protected in Buenos Aires than the locals. Being in places like Recoleta, Plaza San Martin, Barrio Norte or even Palermo gives them the security everybody needs.
What happened to this poor girl is very sad. She should have known who was going out with herbefore letting him in.Besides, the person who visited her last was another French who belonged to her group.
for lilyb1112 find out about the SOFITEL i was there on Saturday. believe me it is a very nice hotel in a very posh area. though a bit expensive.

Ok. My bad!!! You do mention her a lot but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, Graziella. Look, I loved Argentina and I don't mind helping out someone that was nice and did a good job either.

but in retrospect, in this dishonest world,! any thing is possible... But rest assured I simply wish to share my experience with wow-argentina so others can enjoy their trip dealing with honest and professional people. I am sure there must be other good agencies but this is the one I am familiar with.That is all.

You are right, I guess I do sound like an alarmist. I know crime can happen anywhere and I agree that Recoleta and several other areas do have a police presence, although not so much at night. I stayed at the Howard Johnson's on Florida once and walking home late was a little spooky at 2 in the morning. Recoleta has better protection in the wee hours of the morning, especially in the Village of Recoleta area.

Even in the daytime it pays to be cautious. I watched a moto robbery at the corner of Posadas and Libertad near Patio Bullrich not long ago. Policemen were stationed just a block away, but one guy snatched a purse and jumped on the back of his buddies moto and they were gone in a flash. You have to watch yourself, wherever you are...even in the best parts of town.

Agree with your take on the Sofitel. Beautiful hotel and a wonderful restaurant. Both are expensive though. Argenta Tower is a less costly alternative in the same hour.

Nothing at all wrong with your question, but if you search this forum for "cintia" you will also find a post by me that specifically addresses your concerns. I used her on my first trip to BsAs this past month...and it made it a "dream" trip.

I realize that you are probably just being "wary" and for that I commend you, but, in truth I would vouch for the services of WOW-Argentina to my very best friends,,,,,,AND I can assure you that I have no financial, or other stake in their business..

I also recommend Cintia Stella. She was my guide in Buenos Aires last summer. I have nothing to do with Graziella or WOW.argentina. I have travelled all over the world and you can read my posts on this board, as well as the Europe and Asia boards.

I stayed near Florida last summer and I felt completely safe, walking around at night by myself. This is an upscale shopping street. And darling, I know unsafe neighbourhoods. I live in Philadelphia, where there are many places I would not venture even with an Uzi and a bodyguard.

To make the same point that Thingorjus I also post often in Fodor's Europe because almost every year we travel to South America and Europe. As all of us I enjoy sharing and learning .
I also enjoy posting on Mexico were we went last year and had a great time in Oaxaca.

Bingo...there are some great bingo parlors on Lavalle downtown.

Gambling...two casinos in the area...one in Puerto Madero on a stationary riverboat and the other in Tigre. The one in Tigre is much larger and has many more slots and games.

This message is for the adventurous types on a budget like myself. I spent all of april 2004 in BsAs, mingled with locals, and blended in like a local, their is nothing like totaly feeling the emotion of Buenos Aires, the city @ night, and the comradery after a bottle of red wine, and lovely females with their accents. I stayed in San Telmo, La Boca, and Downtown, plaza de mayo. When i travel i enjoy a sense of reality. Hi Lou I'm a single male going to Buenos Aires next month this will be my first big trip overseas so I'd love to hear how your trip went. I'm definately on a tight budget. I'm staying at the Best Western comfort on Viamonte. It was cheap only $29 a night plus sales tax. My vote for WOWAREGENTINA. They were so kind and helpful in BA. Period.
