Buenos Aires in February from NYC
 

Hi All,

My wife and I are looking to travel from NYC (JFK) to EZE during the third week of February, 2007. I have been tracking the airfare on kayak.com for the last 7 days to find the following (the date represents the date I searched for the airfare)...

August 10 - $1945
August 11 - $2353
August 12 – $2105
August 13 – $2353
August 14 – $2353
August 15 - $2353
August 16 - $1945/$1645 @ 11:30pm

The prices I have found are for two tickets on a specific non-stop overnight roundtrip flight and they include all applicable taxes and fees.

My question is, for those of you who have travelled this particular corridor, have you been able to get cheaper tickets than this (specifically for JFK to EZE)? I would love to wait and see the price drop to the 1200 dollar range for 2 tickets but then again the price could go up (obviously).

For your information, I have already tried: kayak, priceline, hotwire, orbitz, sidestep, airfare, cheaptickets, and aerolineasargentinas for these tickets.

I found the best fare for our December trip at allcheapfares.com. For a non-stop flight. Once we were booked we called the airline directly and got our seat assignments. Saved $600/person over anything else we found via the Internet. You might want to check it out as an option.

Thanks for the three replies. I have actually used both carbone and allcheapfares as well (but didn't think of them off the top of my head). My question was more for people who have travelled from JFK to EZE during the winter time and had a good experience waiting for ticket prices to drop. Also, to eenusa, what price are you paying for your travel during December and are you going from JFK?

We had the same dilemma last year. We waited till about 50-40 days before the departure date and the prices actually did drop to about $800 per ticket for JFK to EZE. We travelled in November which I guess is a low season.

Thanks for the advice thus far. The price came down to $1645 a few days ago for 2 tickets from NYC to EZE nonstop. Like a fool, I didn't buy them and now they're back up to $2000. I guess I'll just have to wait.

I've had good luck going directly to American Airlines websight...very late on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning..I don't expect the price to ever be as low as $600 per ticket due to the cost of jet fuel...good luck, h1heel

LAN has dirt cheap roundtrip flights to Buenos Aires from Miami for $399 (plus tax). Tickets must be purchased before August 28, 2006, for travel between October and December 13, 2006.

It doesn't help the OP but if there is anyone else out there looking....

Hi cmc fong is absolutly right I recently bought two of the 399 Lan tickets with tax, 430 each. I believe this great prices are due for the low season and also because it is new route. We are talking of direct flights between Miami and Bue.

Thanks for continuing to post on this topic - I'm still going strong on searching the fares each day. I have to agree with one of the previous posters who alluded to a mid-week price dip. I would be suprised if I didn't see my sixteen-hundred dollar price again sometime this week.

I know that I will just have to be patient and that the prices will/should come down eventually. My next question is the following: for our 7 day stay in BsAs, we are considering staying at 2 or 3 different places to get a feel for different neighborhoods and to see more of the city. We are considering the following places but have not looked into their availability:

Art Hotel
Art Suites
Bobo Hotel
The Cocker
Five
Home

If anyone has had experience with travelling to BsAs for 7 days, I would appreciate some feedback on the practicality of switching hotels two or three times within a week.

Also, for anyone who has booked at any of the aforementioned hotels, how did you go about booking? I don't have international calling and I've found that most of the smaller botique hotels have an "email and reserve" system. Has anyone had experience with this?

We decided to stay in 2 different rooms at Hot BOBO in late Oct. rather than switch, but would do Art Suites for variety.
Be aware that AL/AR has recently had a huge and absurd price increase for "in country" travel for non (AR) residents.
Used DAL skymiles for business seats to EZE.

Have you priced Tam Brazilian Airlines? We are going to BA in two weeks, and got our tix for $499 each, r/t out of Miami. Their website is tough to use because it's in Spanish, but you can get a fare quote for them via this website:

I don't know when your travel dates are or which airport you want to fly out of, but doing a random search on February 13-20 out of Kennedy, it looks like they have tix for as low as $1100 r/t.
