Buenos Aires Hotel for Elderly Parents?
Can you please recommend a centrally located, full service hotel in BA for my elderly parents? They will need a hotel with elevator, walk in shower, restaurant, assistance with making reservations/taxis/etc. Something in the $250-350 range. Thanks, annie

Most hotels in BUenos Aires will match easily your needs except for the walk in shower I mean I cannot be sure about that, for less money for instance the Argenta Towers Hotel would be very nice, they have an excellent breakfast and a restaurant with several options a la carte and good deals in their set menus. All the other services you require except that I do not know if they would have walk in showers or not.I t will be less too. If you really want to splurge the Four Seasons is a wonderful option, they have some great packages sometimes including breakfast and a free meal in their fine restaurant. I got one such a package through WOW Argentina , they seem to work a lot with the Four Seasons and thus they offer not all year but often this really great packages. The hotel gave me a free celular phone too, and when I was not in the hotel room the calls were transfered to my cell. WHich I though it was very neat. Good luck.

How elderly are they?
The nicest hotels here with the best facilities are very expensive. I don't think they are in your price range. Most hotels in town..have a 24 concierge and people who speak English and can help with all taxis and reservations..I just don't know if they are capable of walking the city. The sidewalks are not in good condition..there are crowds downtown in the more Touristy areas.. like Florida St..San Telmo is all cobblestone streets, I stumble half the time I am out and I have a long way to go before I can call myself elderly. Most hotels have some form of breakfast, usually here it is coffee and medialunas.. Look into the Etoile and the Loi Suites..both in Recoleta and in nicer areas than some, restaurants and parks and museums are nearby.. |
** Feliz Año Nuevo! Graziella! When will you be here again? :) **

Feliz Año Nuevo Scarlet, now I look at your postings for
up dated information....We were there between early Nov and early Dec. Also went to Mendoza. Back home to spend Christmas with our two children who live here. I guess I shall be back around April. Take care. |
Quite elderly. They can certainly afford more, but I know they'll steer clear from $700-$1000 night, I presume 4 Seasons will be something in that range and above. So, $300-400, what would you recommend in that range?

Scarlett, I didn't read your whole post, (sick with a cold and not paying attention). I'll take a look at the hotels you mentioned.
I'm not sure I want them going on their own, but they don't always listen. I may try to go down there with them. annie |
sweetannie,We stayed in the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires in July 2007, for three nights, two persons, and paid 866 dollars plus tax for the 3 nights.
The package included two dinners for 2 at Le Mistral the hotel restaurant, including two glasses of wine.( delicious Malbec from Catena Zapata) Also included an excellent buffet breakfast. A free celular phone and a discount book for 10 off at Patio Bullrich. As I said before we got these deal through Wow Argentina .It was a lovely stay, through out the world I have always had lovely stays in the Four Seasons Hotels. |
Many hotels in Buenos Aires offer elevators, restaurants and help with reservations. I am less certain about a walk in shower. Most places I have stayed have tuh/showers.
Rates vary by 50% or more depending on the date/season. As Graziella mentions, certain agents get better rates year round by working sending a large volume of business in the direction of specific hotels. These rates are often better than the rates you will find on-line or by making contact with the hotel yourself. You might check the Four Seasons, Alvear Palace, Sofitel, Park Tower, Caesar Park and the Intercontinental...either on your own or through a reputable local agent. Several agents are frequently recommended by Fodorites, including the one mentioned by Graziella. Good luck.... |
