Buenos Aires apt location
Hola, Can anyone tell me if the location of Vincente Lopez & Callao is RELATIVELY QUIET? Apart on 2nd Floor?
Also a different . apt they say is Recoleta/Palermo Hollywood is that good? Thank you for any advice. Tania |
Hola, Tania!
I believe a 2nd floor apartment, on Vicente López and Callao cannot be "RELATIVELY QUIET", unless it does NOT face the street, as both streets are pretty busy. I'm afraid I don't understand the other question, because Recoleta and Palermo Hollywood are quite different neighbourhoods. Furthermore, I would not trust a firm which describes an apartment as located in "Recoleta/Palermo Hollywood". Have a great time in our country, Tania. |
I agree with AV. A second floor apartment overlooking either of these streets is likely to be noisey. If the apartment is "contrafrente" or facing the rear, it will probably not be noisey. Look for an apartment that says "piso alto" or high floor facting the street or contrafrente if it is on a lower floor....
Stay away from the busy streets, such as Santa Fe, Callao, Libertador, Pueyrredon or Las Heras to reduce possible street noise. I also agree with AV about the description of the second apartment...Recoleta and Palermo Hollywood are distant from one another, geographically and culturally...they are in different locations and appeal to very different demographics. |
I'm in heaven!
I beat Doc to the draw AND, furthermore, he wholly agrees with me!!! LOL!! However, I couldn't possible write as "academically" as he does. "different demographics", OMG!! I COULD correct his spelling, but I'll abstain, this time. Just kidding, Doc, so other forum members can have some fun!! LOL!! |
Ok, now that you have had your fun....
Tania, since you asked about areas...if youlook at Recoleta/Barrio Norte, Palermo, and Palermo Soho you will be in good shape. Retiro/Plaza San Martin and parts of San Telmo are also popular with tourists and convenient to most attractions. |
I just stayed in an apartment on Callao and Juncal in Recoleta and it was the best location. However, I was on the 18th floor so the noise was at a minimum. The location on Vincente Lopez is excellent, but that's a busy street too (as is Callao) so I would also agree that it may be noisy.
Palermo Hollywood is also a great neighborhood but it's further out in the city. It's still BA most definitely and the best restaurants are there (or Palermo Soho) but I really enjoyed being in Recoleta. I've stayed at the Home twice, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE, but it's location in Palermo Hollywood always required a cab ride. This was the first visit where I really walked a lot as we were close to San Martin, the business district, etc. If you like steak I highly recommend La Cabrera. It's the best! BUT...the portions are HUGE so you might be best off splitting a meal with whoever you are traveling with (if you are not going alone). My friend and I learned that lesson the hard way. However, the US dollar is still strong there so it was not as expensive a mistake as it would have been at home in the States. |
Hola y gracias toda. WE did decide to take the 2nd floor aprt
at Vincente Lopez & Calleo. It is "confrente", price was right so we hope it won't be too bad. I will report back on this one when we return. Thanks for La Cabrera restaurant suggestion where is it located? Thanks, Tania |
If it is a Contra frente you will be ok, that corner is terribly busy all kind of Coletivos, ( buses coming and going). good luck.

It's in Palermo, Tania.
