Brazil visa & fingerprinting ?'s
Hi! am reading the recent post about visa problems. Am I understanding the Brazil embassy site correctly that one could not apply for a visa more than 90 days from the entry date??
I was sorry to hear of that traveler's visa problems, but wondered if others were having problems as well? Also, what currently have been traveler's experiences with the fingerprinting? Pls be kind. Thx again! |
Yes if you get you visa then you must use it in the next 90 days for first time otherwise it is no good. Arriving in Rio now then no fingerprints or pictures, Sao Paulo still maybe.

We had no problem obtaining our visas. We dropped them off at the LA consulate and picked them up two weeks later.

Make sure officers stamp your passaport when you are entering, otherwise your 5 years visa will not be good for future trips. I was told by friend that they do it, so we americanas have to pay for a new visa...$100.00 more for the government. Once you are in the country, it is a different thing, you will love it.......

I see people talking about weeks to obtain the visa, in Miami it is issued the same day...
|
I don't need a visa because I'm from the UK but my husband went to the Brazilian consulate last week and is picking up his visa today. We chose not to use a visa service because of all the additional fees $100 seemed enough!
However, what we all need to remember is that the $100 fee imposed on US passport holders is a response to the fee imposed on Brazilians by the US. I found the same thing travelling in southern Africa. |
Yes, definitely make sure they stamp your passport when you enter, since that activates it, and because they will check for it on subsequent visits (entries) to Brazil. If you have lots of stamps, remember where it is.

I got my visa in San Francisco, CA in 2 days which I thought was good. Flew into Sao Paulo in June, fingerprinted and had a horrible picture taken since I just woke up from an overnight trip. But everything went smooth on my trip.
