Brazil VISA

Hey everybody:

I am a US citizen and I got a visa for Brasil in 1997. Do I need to get another one for my trip this year, or is that one still good?

Daniel

Yes, you will need another one. Brazilian visas are only good for 90 days.

Hey Erin:

I just looked at my visa in my passport from 1997. It says that first entry within 90 days, and multiple entries within five years from date of first entry. Since I went in 1997, doesn't that mean that I actually DON'T need another visa?

Curious George,

Daniel Lee

You are correct! I confirmed it on this website www.brasil.emb.nw.dc.us/cnturvis.htm. Now, I don't have to get another one when I go back this December!

Erin,

Thanks for the reply!

So where are you going in Brasil in December?

E tambem voce fala portugues? Gostaria de fazer email com voce!

Daniel Lee

We are thinking about going back to Rio and to Buenos Aires. We went to Rio in December and it was the best! I had the greatest time.

Hey Erin,

If and when you do go back to Rio de Janeiro, check out the Kilosaurus on Av. NS de Copacabana. It's one of those self-service restaurants and I absolutely loved it. Cheap food but GOOD food.

Alos, I can't stress this enough: if you go back to Pao de Acucar, try CLIMBING up the back of it as opposed to taking the cable car. I did it with my fiancee and neither of us are experienced climbers. It took us about 1.5 hours (maybe closer to 2) and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. We also saw squirrel monkeys on our way up. First time I had ever seen wild monkeys.

Let's see...what else...oh yeah, if you haven't already, take a hike in Parque Nacional da Tijuca. Very beautiful.

People kept warning me about the dangers of Rio de Janeiro and not to take the buses or walk around, but we got along just fine. We walked the whole damn city from the east to the west. The only places to which we took the bus was the Jardim Botanico (very beautiful), Cristo Redentor, and the Parque da Tijuca.

God I wanna get back there. We never checked out the nightlife because of safety reasons, but now that we're a little more "seasoned"...

Daniel
