Here is some video I took with my digital camera while sitting on the deck of Pizote one morning. The quality isn't the best, but you get the idea.

Hi tully,
It's kind of funny to see you posting a question about BdC; being one of our favorite definitive authorities on the place... ;-) I hope your dad will have a terrific time. Hopefully it will be a nice family bonding experience and not too much togetherness! I love my dad, but he would not be my first choice of traveling companion (we just don't have enough interests in common). My mom, on the other hand, is very easy to travel with, so I suppose it all comes down to the mix of personalities. When's the Nicaragua trip? |
My Nica trip? Eh...soon? I was telling my friend I'm already so wrapped up in a million details for the May 2008 CR trip I've kind of forgotten that I have my Nica trip coming up :D Seriously I'm leaving 10/25, so not too far away. Since I only have 8 nights and only hitting 2 places with just car transport between them I didn't have a million details to think over like I do for CR for some reason, so it's kind of nice it's on the back burner then suddenly I'll be on my way!
julie - post lots of pics! Oh and sleep up in the loft one night, tell me how it goes (just kidding!) vg - I forget, did you post pics, so many recently I've forgotten, would love to see them again if you did. There is a little deck as well as the porch, right? quarters - I still may trail after you guys on a hike if I want to get away from my dad ;) Not sure if he could do the Pacific trail (I'm making him sound decripit and he's so on the go he makes me tired just thinking about it, lol) As most of you know I pretty much travel solo so I'm sure I'm very used to doing thing exactly how/when I want to, but I think my dad & I will be fine. We did Amsterdam & London a few years ago and that went well (other than a bomb going off outside our hotel but I digress...) Really appreciate everyone's comments! I guess I will have to keep going back to BdC til I've hit all the cabins! |
tully, yep, it has the front porch area and then a little cement area out front with 2 of those blue and green lounge chairs on it. I haven't posted pics yet - just uploaded them to the Kodak gallery, and trying to figure out what to do from there...
That should be your lifelong goal - to try every cabin at BdC! Would be fun to try! We thought the loft area was a little warm when we were there because it doesn't have windows or much of a breeze like the downstairs area, but it does have a little fan for you to use. BdC has pics of a cabin called Manglillo - Tucan looks like that one if you want them to send you a pic. Leonardo e-mailed to me so I could be sure I was getting a "good" cabin - didn't know at that time that they're all good! |
Tully,
Ditto the comment about us all chuckling about YOU asking for BdC advice! You are the one who helps us! We stayed in delux La Palma in June 2005. It had 2 twin beds in the loft, no netting up there, no fans. Kids were 13, 14. VERY few bugs, but a bat or two flew thru. I was recently told by Leo that the lofts have netting, but I would think you might want to double check La Palma if you get that cabina, since we had none in the past. Also they move potted plants around those showers sometimes. We had a CLEAR view to the pool and they put a palm there for the comfort of my teenage daughter (and her dad! HA!)Told me they do that frequently. No big deal. Campjulie: I admit my kids were slightly edgy the first night in the loft, but got over it quickly, its cool, and netting will help make them cozy, mine didn't have it. KEEP THE LIGHTS OFF! That's the difference. Flashlights are fun! We each kept one bedside, along with our flipflops, no barefeet in the dark for us! We had a blast! Enjoy! I don't know how you guys do all those smiley faces either!? |
You might even get headlamps for the kids. My husband loved his, and he's 32! They could be like little explorers!

Thanks, I feel like I can fit in with style now
=D> |
hee but I always have questions! Or sometimes just need the support, like 'yes that's a good decision' when I'm on the fence.
Oh I can tell you if there is no mosquito net then my dad will be up there! I brought a headlamp last time but never used it. I put it on once and looked in the mirror and just had a giggle fit. I guess I need to get over that lol. |
I carried my headlamp in my hand; wearing it I felt like a spelunker! We got ours at REI, and they had 3 levels of brightness - I think kids would love them. I did see that they had special sizes for kids.
