Gem I agree, maybe one day we will all have a get together and compare notes - and photos!

Suzie are you having trouble booking cause it's too early (for 2012) or is it that it's already booked up? I haven't really looked into Guatemala much but I do know the new Coppola place I read about looked fantastic (on a lake if I remember). I do remember from my trips in CR that several of the tico's I spoke with said they like to go to Antigua for a vacation.

Yes, Croatia is amazing beautiful and has such a variety of things to se. The Plitvice Lakes Nat'l Park is (yet another) place I'm trying to work in somehow. Absolutely stunning! The glitch from what I've read...very easy to get a bus there, but not always easy to get a bus out (sometimes they just don't stop!) So I can either bite the bullet and hope for the best, or try another NP, Krka, which is somewhat similiar and has a lovely monastery on the island Visovac within it. The problem with Croatia is the same everywhere - too much too see and too little time!

Jill I wish when I was in PR I had more time to see more than San Juan, I'm sure it'd be interesting - though I did like the narrow cobbled streets in some areas we walked in. I've heard a lot about Vieques being so pristine (I guess cause the Navy controlled it for so long, lol!)

Tully,
We stayed at the Coppola place last Feb. (La Lancha) It was nice enough. The rooms were very pretty. Two things we didn't like...we made our reservations 4 months in advance with another couple. After several emails we were assured that we would be in adjoining rooms in the same duplex. We weren't. We ended up in different buildings. We were drinking the same beer everyday at the bar. Our last day they ran out and said they couldn't get anymore. We got in our rental car and drove down the street and brought back a case of it and put it in a cooler in our room. Not having the beer was not the point to us. The fact that it was readily available and they wouldn't go out of their way for their customers to get more bothered us. If it had been harder to get we wouldn't have thought anything of it. We also thought the food was just so so. His places in Belize are supposed to have great pizza. A friend was a doctor that donated time in Belize every year, he loved Blancaneaux.

The logistics of traveling in Croatia sound like a real challenge. Think I will let you do the ground work before I attempt a trip there . It does look beautiful and is certainly going on my list. I am in super travel mode these days and just throwing darts at the world map. I want to see it all!!!!
