Bosque del Cabo & Junquillal
Thank you all for the info on Osa. Our first trip to Bosque del Cabo.. met or exceeded our expectations. we hiked and ate.. marveled at wildlife.. I want to go back! It was a wonderful experience. I loved the beach trails.. my husband surf cast fished along the way.. even caught some jacks( he released them). The Pacific trail was great too! The birds and butterflies amazed us.. Nature Air was a great experience... Take filp flops for the cabins... forgot mine.. and i did step on a scorpion.. yes it does hurt.. like an hour long electrical shock. best avoided.
We then went to Playa Junquillal In Guanacaste. We had been there before and loved it the second time too. I did an amazing horse back ride. We traveled into the hills, had lunch at a farm house.. then traveled back and had a gallop on the beach.. Great horses and knowledgeable guide. Highly Recommend...The stable is called Paradise Riding... they have a website.I have ridden with them three times now... all great. Thank you all.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time. Bosque is indeed a special place and now you understand why everyone raves about it. Sorry about the scorpion!! I'm petrified of them so will always do my utmost to avoid them.

Sounds like you had a fantastic time, I was curious you mentioned that your husband did some surf fishing, did he get the pole from BDC or did he bring his own? We will be making our second trip to BDC in about 2 weeks, my husband would love to do some fishing.

Wow!!! I'm able to post - I'm in total shock!
Hochie, when will you be at BdC? DH and I will be there from Feb. 23-March 1. My husband would love to fish too. I think I read somewhere that you need to bring your own surf rods. We're considering an off-shore fishing trip IF we can find two others willing to split the cost of the boat, or 3 others if he goes alone.

We were waiting at that little "bus stop" that Sansa calls a terminal in Puerto Jimenez when the man near me unzipped his carryon, and a big black scorpion crawled out of his bag. We all crowded around it and took pictures. I'm sure the ticos think we're a little crazy. It taught me a good lesson to keep my bags zipped at all times!

My husband brought his own rod and reel. Placed it in a cardboard tube for the flight. we had the best shashimi I have ever had. Another guest of BDC went out on a boat fishing. Caught a Tuna and the chef served it to us.. only hours old.. I still think of it. YUM!
The scorpion bite happened at night. Because the room lights are dim at BDC the little buggers don't scatter when the light goes on.. as they generally do. If I go back.. flip flops.. I have a bad habit of going barefoot.. state side I have stepped on bees.
I too have brought scorpions home from Mexico.. Always shake out your shoes in the morning!
Don't let my scorpion bite deter you.. this was the stupid human's fault.

Hochie, it would be great to split a trip with you two! We were thinking of a full-day - you? I suppose if we're going to do it, we'd better let them know soon, cause they advertise that that's the one activity it's best to book ahead.
Motmot - however did you come up with such a moniker? lol! Yes, I was in complete shock when my reply posted!

volcanogirl, when we were in Arenal and I was checking out of Los Lagos a gigantic huge beetle climbed out of my backpack purse onto my hand when I was getting my wallet out. I screamed and flung the wallet across the counter to the chagrin of the checkout clerk. They thought I was crazy! I told everyone there waiting "make sure you keep your bag zipped at ALL TIMES!"
