Boquete and Volcan in October

I plan on traveling to Panama mid October and wanted to explore Boquete and Volcan areas. I understand it is the rainy season, but is it just too rainy to enjoy being outdoors? I have limited time in Panama and I am opting to visit this area instead of San Blas or Bocas. Is this a mistake? Please help.

WE just returned from Boquete a week ago. We loved the area. It is very lush and beautiful and has a small town that is inviting to tourists but not touristy. Of course there is no beach, but rather mountains, hiking, and outdoor walks. If you have more questions post here.

nomar, I will be in Boquete/Volcan in Feb and would love to see a trip report on your stay. We will be at the Panamonte and know it to have an excellent dining room from prior visits. What other spots would you recommend? Treewhite, you cannot go wrong with either of your choices. Rainy season is quite beautiful and the rain will not interfere with your activities substantially. Buen viaje.

Hola!Is not a mistake,i moved to Volcan with my family the last 10 July, from PC.
I born and raised overthere, but is too much stress living in the city.
Volcan is famous called the place of eternal spring, every morning is always clear, from where i live u can see the sunshine from behind the Baru Volcano,we open our windows and u smell the natural pine fragance, dozens of diferents sounds from many diferents species of bird, you can see my home in www.corazondelcielo.com.
Also my grandpa have coffe plantations in Boquete, wich is less cold than Volcan(between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius)
We offer a cheap B&B here, also i am a tourist guide and cabdriver in my country.
You can read about my posted comments here also in many other famous travels site forums,or in the L.A.Times,NYTimes in travels sections,e mail me at any hour day or nigth for details, bye

We were in Boquete a couple of Feb's ago. We had wonderful weather and a great stay in that area.
We stayed at the Coffee Estate Inn but walked into the Panamonte and it looked like a great place to stay.
One thing that we did which we really enjoyed was a bird tour with a fellow named Chago to see the Quetzel birds. After a very bumpy ride up a very rocky road we came to a spot where we saw many birds. He also took us to a hotspring which could be missed.. but then to a river that we could swim in. We really enjoyed that day. We also did a bit of hiking in that area. While we were there the strawberries were in season and we enjoyed many frozen stawberry treats. We used a gentleman named Daniel Higgins (he is mentioned in the new Fodors book) and he was an excellent driver/quide. Enjoy
