booking hotels Buenos Aires
Hi
I am usually quite independent when it comes to booking vacations. However, never have been to Buenos Aires or Santiago and wondering if it's best to book hotels directly or go through a specific website or agent. When I travelled to Asia I got much better prices through certain websites. Like upscale hotels. Thanks Pat |
The lowest rates are normally available through a reputable agent in Buenos Aires.
Agents receive lower rates because of the volume of business they send to the various hotels. I usually check several on-line sources--the hotel site, octopus travel, travelocity, etc.--before contacting an agent. I tell her what I have found and ask if she can offer a better price. Mor often than not, she can and does. Do you need specific recommendations for hotels? There are several upscale hotels in different parts of town, ranging from boutique offerings in Palermo Soho to international chain hotels that cater to business travelers in the downtown area.... |
drdawggy, would you please name some of the hotels you like?
I am not that interested in the Four Seasons or the huge hotels, more boutique hotel type is preferable..Home Hotel I know, any others? (Palermo or Recoleta is good too ) Thank you :) |
Home Hotel. Bobo Hotel both in Palermo Soho/Viejo
Hotel Bel Air Recoleta/Barrio Norte. Art Suites Barrio Norte (an aparthotel, run by family and friends). Regal Pacific in el centro. The largest of the hotels I would recommend, but small enough to offer personalized service... |
Drdaw - thanks for your reply. I normally book on my own and haven't used an agent in a zillion internet years:) however - there is always a first. I thank you for your suggestion to let them know what I have found as I didn't know if that would "insult" someone or not..I think it would save lots of time and running around on the part of the agent.
Can you recommend a couple of upscale (but not terribly expensive) hotels - I don't mind the large business type hotel - the more amenities the better. I don't even know what area I would like to stay in but we would like a central location an we are walkers. Thanks again Pat |
Spending 2 days and 1 night in Buenos Aries post cruise in January. What would be the nicest area of the city for this short a time?

Here are links to several excellent hotels in various price ranges. The Regal Pacific is downtown the Home and Bobo are in Palermo Soho and the Bel Air and Art Suites are in Recoleta/Barrio Norte. http://www.regal-pacific.com/bs/ http://www.homebuenosaires.com/home/ http://www.bobohotel.com/ http://www.hotelbelair.com.ar/ http://artsuites.com.ar/ |
drdawggy, thank you so much for posting those websites.
I have picked my rooms lol! I like the Bobo and maybe the Artsuites Penthouse. Prices are very good and I like the location. Thank you mystic for allowing my using your thread :) |
Thanks all.
We finalized our business class 180K skymiles flights on DAL's partners (Avianca and AeroMexico) and shall be there in late Oct and Nov. M |
Why didn't you just fly direct on Delta instead of using partner airlines? Just curious.
|
Saludos dd,
We are flying MEX-EZE and SCL-MEX as we live in San Miguel de Allende, Gto. Didn't want to go via ATL even if they had Sky Miles business seats available. M |
Pat: My 1st trip to Argentina (returned 2wks ago), I used a travel agent, Mayra Brill ([email protected]).
While I ended up booking the Art Hotel in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, myself, Mayra arranged for my trip to Las Cataratas de Iguazu and was very helpful with the rest of my trip planning. I recommend her services. Art Hotel tel: (54-11) 4821 4744 [email protected] www.arthotel.com.ar I wouldn't consider the Art Hotel "posh". The staff (esp. Nadia, Javier, Ivan) was fantastic and the location was convenient. Hope this helps. |
Nativenery.
Mayra just had twins, I believe...so she could probably use all the help she can get! She is a great travel agent! |
Thanks for your post nativenyer - I will consider Mayra as I have read many positives with her.
Drdawggy recommended a number of hotels and I just now realized that Art hotel and Art Suites are two different places:) Pat |
Art Suites and Bobo are the hotels that I am interested in, thanks to DrDawggy :)
|
thanks

If you want to have a once in a life experience, try the Alvear Palace Hotel, if you afford it.
|
We booked Hot BoBo in BA and Hot Orly in Santiago directly. They are so popular, we didn't have much choice.
