Booking a private tour with www.anywherecostarica.com
 

Hi everyone

We are planning a relative last-minute trip over the Thanksgiving holiday possibly to Costa Rica. (Our thoughts are Costa Rica or Iceland for very different reasons). Another poster had referred us to anywhere Costa Rica.com, who is provided us an itinerary that seems very nice and meets our needs – no super long hikes, minimal transit within the country, and private van transport between locations.

I'm wondering if anyone else is booked with this organization – they seem extremely professional and willing to work with us around our needs.

I'm sure this could be booked independently with day tours or overnight tours, but for a number of reasons I'm looking to hand it over to someone to help with the tour.
Thanks for any suggestions or feedback.

We book everything ourselves, but I've read positive things from people who have used them. Where are you going?

Check other prices around…they are good but expensive…do not pay more for the same

I have to look at the itinerary to see what they include and where we would go. But their prices are by no means the most expensive.
And I think the poster just above works for them as they hbe been shilling them all over the forums

So many people have suggested we can do this on her own so we're going to take a stab at it. I'm posting the link to the itinerary we received, and we are thinking that we really want to only do two locations.

Some background - I've been ill all summer so we haven't been able to do my usual obsessive planning. We are older and I'm scar d if we plan ourselves and have any kind of issues, we won't have anyone to rely on. We of course buy trip insurance but ebpven for things like a driver not showing up etc. We do not want to do self drive!

This it's has 3 locations and we want to on,y do two - no major hikes and not at elevations. Is that realistic?

It looks like they have you going to Monteverde for just one night; personally I would drop that. It's a long bumpy road to get there, so not worth just one night for me. We like a combo of Arenal and Manuel Antonio; it's probably the most common itinerary for first timers. We just reserve our drivers through out hotels when we book them. They've always shown up, and we haven't had any problems. The Arenal area has tons to do - very nice Cano Negro boat trip to see wildlife or Penas Blancas safari float if you want something closer, nice hiking at the Hanging Bridges, a waterfall hike if you can do steps down and back up, and beautiful natural hot springs like Tabacon or if you want something smaller Eco Termales. The Proyecto Asis animal rescue center is also nice. Tons of adventure activities if you wanted to try any. Manuel Antonio has the beach and tons of fairly time wildlife like monkeys. Tulemar Bungalows is our favorite place to stay. You may have to stay a first or last night near the airport depending on flight times.

I have booked individual activities through anywhere Costa Rica and they were great. As far as a whole trip, you really can do it yourself. The hotel employees are so incredibly helpful; you won't get stuck anywhere. If we ever had a driver not show, the hotel 's reception picked up the phone and took care of it. And we weren't even in fancy hotels. The tourism industry is very professional there. It's really the easiest country I've traveled in.
