Blancaneaux\Turtle Inn questions
 

Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows if Blancaneaux and Turtle Inn have in room safes? I would rather leave my jewelry at home than worry about losing it on an adventure. What does a typical meal cost? What adventures are a Must See! Thanks so much for any input and advice you can offer.

Turtle Inn has room safes.

Continental breakfast was included with room. I would not recommend ordering anything else for breakfast. Waffles were eggo's, eggs were not real, they were out of a carton, etc.

Lunch entrees were $5-$10. I recommend the pizza for lunch.

Dinner was $10-$15 for entree. Again, I can only recommend the pizza. We were at the Turtle Inn for over one week, they only had dessert to serve on two of those nights, only one dessert, no choices, and it was not very good.

The food wasn't great, but it wasn't expensive. Wine, on the other hand had huge mark ups on it and the only served Francis Ford Coppola wines.

he continental breakfasts, which are included in the room rate, were I thought quite good -- a nice variety of breads and rolls, with fresh fruit and fresh-squeezed juices.

We had fish there for dinner a couple of times and enjoyed it. Most of the dinners were in the US$15 to $20 range as I recall, not cheap but about the same as the other upscale restaurants at Luba Hati and Robert's Grove. My kids had the pizza a time or two and liked it. The Coppola-Neibaum wines aren't cheap either, but I thought they were priced similarly to what you'd find in a U.S. restaurant (and duties on wine in Belize are pretty high.)

Of course there are several good restaurants in Placencia in all price ranges, and I would think most guests would eat at a variety of places, not just at the hotel.

There's no point in bringing jewelry to Belize. It's really not that kind of destination!

Thank you very much for your input. If you have any suggestions of where else in the Placenia area we can go to get a bite to eat, I would really appreciate it. It would be kinda nice to have a meal in another location although it would need to be within walking or biking distance as we are not renting a car. Thanks, Teri

You can take a taxi -- probably BZ$5 into the village.

Some of the better places to eat in Placencia: the main restaurant at Inn at Robert's Grove, the restaurant at Luba Hati, the restaurant at Kitty's Place, Trattoria Placencia (fresh-made pasta), Omar's (inexpensive), Pickled Parrot, Mango's (up the peninsula at Maya Beach). Tutti Fruitti for ice cream.
